Triangle

Trikonasana

Triangle is a straight-legged standing pose that opens to the side, one hand reaching down toward the front leg and the other reaching up. Erin describes it as a hip opener that builds strength in the legs.

How to do Triangle

  1. Take a wide stance with your front toes forward.
  2. Straighten your front leg without locking the knee.
  3. Reach forward, then bring your front hand to your shin, a block or the floor.
  4. Reach your top arm up toward the ceiling.
  5. Look down if you feel unsteady, or up if you want to challenge your balance.

Common mistakes

  • Collapsing the torso toward the floor to reach further down.
  • Hyperextending the front knee.

Make it easier
