Tabletop

Bharmanasana

Tabletop is the hands and knees position that so many of Erin's classes start from. It is home base for Cat-Cow and wrist warm ups, and the place you come back to between them.

How to do Tabletop

  1. Come onto your hands and knees.
  2. Place your shoulders right over your wrists and your hips right over your knees.
  3. Spread your fingers wide and press evenly through your hands.
  4. Keep a nice flat back with your gaze down at your mat.
  5. Keep your neck long, in line with your spine.

Common mistakes

  • Letting the belly sag and the low back dip.
  • Placing the hands out in front of the shoulders.
  • Sinking into the shoulders instead of pressing the floor away.

Make it easier

  • Make fists with your hands if your wrists need a little extra support.
  • Fold your mat or add a blanket under your knees for padding.
