Seated Forward Fold is a forward bend over straight legs while you sit on the mat. It stretches the backs of the legs and the back body, and it usually comes near the end of class.

How to do Seated Forward Fold

  1. Sit with your legs extended in front of you.
  2. Reach your arms up to lengthen your spine.
  3. Hinge from your hips and reach your hands toward your feet.
  4. Walk your hands down your legs or along your mat.
  5. Let your spine round only at the end, resting your forehead toward your knees.

Common mistakes

  • Yanking on the feet to pull yourself deeper.
  • Rounding from the upper back right away instead of hinging from the hips.
