Legs Up the Wall is a restful pose where you lie on your back with your legs resting straight up a wall. Erin offers it near the end of class as a gentle way to get a little bit upside down. She also suggests it before bed.
How to do Legs Up the Wall
- Bring your mat lengthwise to the wall.
- Sit sideways next to the wall, then bring your hips all the way up to it.
- Lie down and swing your legs up the wall.
- Rest your heels on the wall.
- Let your arms rest alongside your body and breathe.
Common mistakes
- Leaving the hips far from the wall so the legs have to work to stay up.
- Holding tension in the legs instead of letting the wall do the work.
Make it easier
- Put a block or a pillow under your hips for a supported version.
- Bend your knees or let the legs fall wide if the stretch is too strong.
