Headstand

Sirsasana

Headstand is an inversion balanced on the forearms and the crown of the head, or on the hands and head in tripod. It is an advanced pose, so Erin offers it as an option with wall support.

How to do Headstand

  1. Interlace your hands and press your forearms down.
  2. Tuck your head between your hands.
  3. Lift your hips like you are doing Dolphin.
  4. Walk your feet in toward your face.
  5. Lift your legs only with control, or stay in the prep.

Common mistakes

  • Kicking up with momentum.
  • Dumping weight into the head and neck instead of pressing through the forearms.

Make it easier

  • Stay in Dolphin.
  • Practice near a wall.
