Eagle is a standing balance where the arms wrap and one leg wraps around the other while you sit low like in Chair. Erin teaches it as a stretch for the upper back and shoulders that also builds heat in the legs. Eagle arms show up on their own a lot too, seated or standing.
How to do Eagle
- Lift your arms overhead, then bring your right arm underneath your left.
- Take your palms together, or just hold your shoulders.
- Sink down into your chair.
- Lift your right leg up and over your left and work toward the wrap.
- Try to align your knees with your elbows.
- Keep your hips and shoulders squared and breathe.
Common mistakes
- Forcing the leg wrap before the hips are ready.
- Standing up tall instead of sitting low into Chair.
- Letting the shoulders creep up toward the ears.
Make it easier
- Touch your shoulders if you cannot reach your palms together.
- Rest the toes of the top foot on the floor for balance instead of wrapping.
