We could write you a list of ten reasons full of words like “breathtaking” and “life-changing.” You’ve read that list. So here’s ours instead, all of it specific and all of it true. These are the actual reasons we keep taking a group to Nosara, Costa Rica every spring and every November.
- We keep going back to the same place. Every retreat we’ve run since November 2017 has been in Nosara, and these days our home base is Casas Kismet Yoga Resort. We know the place inside and out, and that familiarity means fewer surprises for you.
- Two classes a day with Erin and our teachers. Erin Sampson, the teacher behind Five Parks Yoga and an E-RYT 500, leads the week with our other teachers. Mornings are for waking up and evenings are for settling down. All levels are welcome. Try the Morning Jungle Flow or the Heart Opening Sunset class from our retreat series to get a feel for it.
- More than poses. Guided meditation and breathwork are part of every week. Terry, one of the owners of Casas Kismet, has led breathwork and yoga nidra for our group. Everyone also gets a journal for the week.
- The studio is open-air. You practice looking out over the ocean and the jungle. It’s hard to stay in your head with that view.
- Three meals a day you don’t have to plan. The food is local and organic, with vegan options alongside chicken and fish.
- A room for your budget. Accommodations range from dorm-style suites up to private penthouses.
- Afternoons are actually free. Swim in the pool or nap in a hammock. You can also walk to the beach or take the complimentary shuttle.
- Adventure if you want it. Surf lessons and zip-lining are both close by, along with birding and horseback riding. They’re booked separately and completely optional.
- You might end up in a class video. Matt films while we’re there, so you might end up in one of Erin’s YouTube classes. No pressure if you’re camera-shy.
- It can count toward your teaching hours. Our November 2026 retreat carries 45 Yoga Alliance continuing education credits, which is handy if you already teach. If you’d like to start teaching, that’s what our teacher training in Costa Rica is for.
That’s it. No promises that a week will fix your life. It’s a really good week, with good people, in a place we love.

Practice with us in the meantime
Most of our classes were filmed in Costa Rica, and you’ll find them all in the Yoga Classes Filmed in Costa Rica collection. The Medium Flow Deep Stretch class is a nice middle ground if you’re not sure where to start. For slower evenings, browse the Yin and Restorative classes, or use the Class Finder to search by time and body area.

When we’re going next
Our next week at Casas Kismet is November 14 to 21, 2026, and there are a couple of spots open. You can see the details and book here. After that, dates are set for April 10 to 17, 2027 and November 13 to 20, 2027. Booking for 2027 isn’t open yet, so the best way to hear first is our retreats page.
