Journal Prompt: Reflect

I hope you will take this opportunity to spend time in your space to REFLECT

Take time to read and reflect upon these quotes and then answer the question below.

“Time spent in self-reflection is never wasted – it is an intimate date with yourself.” Paul TP Wong

“Life is only a reflection of what we choose to see.”

When in the midst of a great change, it is important to remember where you have been. Spend time in reflection, knowing that transformation always involved the falling away of things we have relied on. You might be left with a feeling that the world as we know it is coming to an end, but when faced with great change it is important to take in all that has enclosed and nurtured us, in order to open up to new life and a fresh perspective.

JOURNAL PROMPT:

WHAT HAS ENCLOSED AND NURTURED YOU THROUGHOUT THIS LAST YEAR? WHO AND WHAT HAS SUPPORTED YOU, EVEN IN THE MIDST OF STRUGGLE OR FEAR?

Meditation: Tratak Candlelight Meditation

TIP: Use the candle that came in your Yoga Gift Bag for this meditation.

Enjoy this transformative Tratak Experience. Before you begin, situate yourself 2-3 feet away from a flame – this could be a candle or an indoor or outdoor fire.

Tratak is the meditative technique of gazing. Gazing with the eye is recognized as a powerful method for focusing life force energy or prana. I will guide you through this practice and you can build upon the experience as you become more comfortable.

Chant: Loka

I hope you enjoy participating in this practice of chanting Loka Samastah Sukino Bhavantu. You can practice with a Mala, which is a string of 108 beads. A mala can help you keep your mind on the process. If you don’t have a Mala, it is not a problem, because I will be counting the rounds as I guide you in the practice.

We will be practicing a quarter mala, which is 27 rounds of chanting. You can continue on your own if you are inspired to chant 108 rounds.

We will be practicing the chant Loka Samastah Sukino Bhavantu, which translates from Sanskrit to English as “May all beings everywhere be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life contribute in some way to that happiness and freedom for all.”
